The Teacher's Survival Guide to DIBELS: 8th Edition
The Teacher's Survival Guide to DIBELS: 8th Edition is a self-paced eLearning course that trains school staff, including teachers, interventionists, paraprofessionals, and school psychologists, to administer and score the DIBELS 8th Edition reading assessment. Its goal is for learners to prepare materials and the testing space, deliver standardized directions word for word, accurately time and score each subtest, apply discontinue and gating rules, and use sound professional judgment when something unexpected happens, so that the data educators rely on to support students’ reading growth is accurate and fair. Short, plain-language lessons with knowledge checks, branching scenarios, scoring practice, and a final assessment let adult learners practice realistic situations at their own pace and see the consequences of their choices without real-world risk. The course reflects equitable and inclusive design in both its content and its construction: it teaches examiners to protect fairness for students by creating calm, accessible testing environments, using approved accommodations appropriately, and not penalizing accent, dialect, or articulation differences, while its own design follows WCAG 2.2 AA with keyboard and screen reader access, captions and transcripts, high-contrast readable text, no time limits, and alternatives to drag-and-drop interactions. Chunked lessons, consistent layouts, supportive feedback, and unlimited retakes reduce cognitive load and anxiety, so every learner has a fair chance to show what they know.
